How do I adjust the quality of a Loom video before downloading it?

Vlad from Standuply February 19, 2025

I’m on a paid Loom plan, and every time I record a video, it looks great in the player (HD 1080p). But as soon as I download it, the quality drops to what feels like 360p…

I checked some posts on reddit and can definitely confirm that other users are experiencing the same issue—just no solution so far.

Anyone else run into this? Found any workarounds?

Hi @Vlad from Standuply ,

If you're facing quality issues, it might be due to the video player resolution settings. Did you try adjusting  settings in your video player ?

Also I found these from the documentation:

"All videos downloaded from Loom will be in a .MP4 format. The MP4 media encoding specs are similar to the RAW media recorded".

"Our web player adjusts the aspect ratio of a video to 16:9 (1280 x 800), which makes the video appear proportional. However, when you download a video, it is in the original aspect ratio the video was recorded in. That being said if you recorded in an atypical aspect ratio your video may look stretched out. To avoid this problem, we suggest changing your screen resolution to a 16:9 ratio."

If you think the issue is not with your system or player, then you can contact the Loom support from https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/  --> Technical issues and Bug --> Select Loom product in next dropdown.
