node.js in jira plugin

Team,

I'd like to build a plugin to allow certain users to search for other users within an LDAP directory using name, username, and other attributes we have added. This directory would be similar to the directory JIRA uses, but keeping them separate may be an advantage.

I have a few examples of searching LDAP, but they are in Node.js. Is there a way to bring in Node.js into a plugin? I'm looking at ldapjs, which uses Node.

Or possibly a better solution to searching LDAP within JIRA and searching for special attributes.

Thanks,

Brian
