Hello,
Part of our workflow statuses are set up as: QA Testing and UA Testing When Development work is completed, the Dev team changes the status to QA Testing. A notification is sent to our QA Engineer. When QA Testing is completed, the QA Engineer will change the status to UA Testing.
a. Could you please confirm the notification/email is assigned to each Status?
b. Can the Jira workflow be set up to have an "Approved' feature (a check box or radio button). When "Approved" has been selected, can the Jira workflow be automatically set up to move to the next workflow step?
Hi @Julia Bell
Welcome to the community
The easiest way is to use automations. You can set up an issue transition trigger and assign a "send email" action, as shown in the image.
option 2: set up a post-transition event by editing the workflow. You can assign an event to be triggered after the transition occurs, and then the event can be configured in the notification scheme to send an email to specified users.
Hi Pasam,
Thank you!
I believe the QA Engineer is auto email notified when the Jira issue is changed to "QA Testing", who will then change the status to "UA Testing". There will most likely be someone to manage the stories when they are in the "UA Testing" status, and will have the auto email set up here as well. My concern is the previous UA Tester would enter "Approved" in the comments and the story didn't move forward and remained in the "UA Testing" status. Would it make sense to have a 'new' status added named "Approved"? So when "Approved" is selected, the story will then automatically move to the next workflow step which is currently "Ready for Production"...this could be your suggestion to option 2. What are your thoughts?

@Julia Bell Ok in that case you can add the condition only particular role of the project should move this status or else you can mention users in the Approver group can only move this status
In Approver group add the required members
