Why is JIRA running so slowly?

I have always used JIRA, but I've recently started at a new company that doesnt have it. So I've set up a mock up project (only about 30 JIRA issues total) to demo it to my boss and show the benefits it would bring here.

However, it is running embarrisingly slow and I can't really demo it like this, or even suggest we should used it. It usually hangs for 10-20 seconds whenever I navigate to a new page and regularly forces me to close IE. If it's this slow for one person, how slow will it be for 200+?

It wasn't this slow in my previous company, any ideas what the problem might be?

There was an incident today on Jira related to performance on confluence and Jira but it looks like they already solved it.

Is it still running slow?

Nope, still slow. I switched to Chrome however and its much faster now. Not sure why that made a difference...

If Chrome is fine then it must be just IE issue. Anyway, Atlassian is stopping support of IE11 soon so things might not be running as well as in other browsers, viz:

That makes sense, thanks

I use Chrome on a regular basis and have continued having this issue.

I think maybe the interface is just too heavy. I face the same performance issues with Chrome  83.0.4103.106. And I don't think it's a hardware problem on my side, as I'm using a good set of CPU/GPU/Memories.

Junio, I am inclined to agree. I've tried every known suggestion provided in every forum I've found no fix and certainly no change.

I keep opening the same board in a fresh instance and it seems to help for a little while only. Then that one locks up too.

Why is Trello not figuring this out rather than leave it to the end users? It must be a serious issue. I have considered leaving Trello.

At times, while I am waiting, I go and do something else. Just now I had an over three minute wait and still no response so I quit waiting and am going to do something else but first I am writing this post. Does Atlassian feel this is acceptable?  I would like it to work but I do not have this kind of time to give to the sue of this product.

PS: I am using DuckDuckGo and have never seen anything opposing this from Trello. If

so it would be good to know and why.

I have the same problem, it was fine at a previous company about 1.5 yrs ago, now really slow making it impossible to demo to my company. Another remote person in my company with his own instance is having the same problem. Youtrack is really responsive and it looks like they may be favouring this option due to the slowness of JIRA that everyone is experiencing, which will be a shame as I like JIRA and its plugins.

For us (new 2022), Jira remains very slow, too. You create a ticket, and it takes 10 seconds for the ticket to open properly to add its details. Anybody else still encountering similar slowness?

Yep. Painfully slow.

Yes, 2025 and it's really annoying.

Same here. It is really becoming a major issue for us. We have not yet completely locked up which ticketing to use in the big picture, so I might need to start searching for viable alternatives as this slowness is really eating productivity already.

I use firefox, but it seems chrome is somewhat equally slow and we cannot force everybody in the whole company to just use certain browser version or brand..

Year 2025, working with JIRA is becoming embarrassingly slow, especially when screen sharing in a video call. The UI is really heavy loading all sort of JS

We had the same issues last year, when on Mac Machines with 8 GB ram and in Safari with many other tabs open, and, sometimes on-going video calls. Since then, we upgraded to 16GB machines, and that seems to have solved it for now.

Yeah, embarrassing. What helped me so far is to restart the browser every now and then.
