What causes Jira to freeze on a custom field

In our Custom fields there is one field 'Betrokken teams' which causes the pane to freeze, it stops loading and there will be no results after this screen. This field is on page 2 of 11, when I'm on page 1 I can choose page 3  or further without a problem. When I click page 2, it freezes. After a refresh, F5, of the page I can start over again.

Even if I use the search option and start typing 'Betr...' the pane freezes. 

The field itself is used in 11 screens, it's a select list (multiple choices), and is used globally.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Could you check if any <javascript /> code has been added to the field description?

Go to the following link:

https://jira.mycompany.org/jira/secure/admin/EditCustomField!default.jspa?id=10106

(*) You must change the domain and fieldId to fit your requirements.

You can also check:

• the atlassian-jira.log to see if there is any exception
• the javascript console of your browser by pressing F12

Indeed, in the description is Javascript added. I removed it. And now the pane freezing is solved. Much appreciated :).

I'm wondering this as well. I need my Javascript but it's very frustrating to have it freeze.
