What are some best practices for using Jira to manage remote teams?
Best wishes

@Capital Plus Auditing Of Accounts Welcome to the Atlassian community
Jira is just a great tool for managing work and helping teams collaborate. The tool however is only as good as you and your team are. By this I mean establishing health, high performing teams through training, support, culture, policy, etc is what will ensure that you have a great team. My recommendation would be to establish the items listed above and use the toolset to support what you are trying to accomplish. Once you have a foundation in place you can use Atlassian plays to identify opportunities for growth and how to execute on those opportunities to continue to improve your team. https://www.atlassian.com/team-playbook I have been managing remote teams for over a decade and everyone has been a little different in what they needed to be successful. I have then be able to apply my knowledge of the Jira application to enhance that team but only after I have established the ground rules. A deep understanding of the product would be the next thing I would recommend. You can take free trainings here: https://university.atlassian.com/student/catalog/list?category_ids=21734-free-training I would also recommend getting certified.
Hi @Capital Plus Auditing Of Accounts ,
Managing a remote team requires special attention. To some extent, it's an art form :)
You shouldn't ignore emails, as they are essential to communication.
That's why my team created the Email&Tasks: Jira Cloud for Gmail app:
The app is also available in the mobile version of Gmail, so you're always one click away from your team.
Here's a 30-day trial for you, and the add-on is free for teams of up to 10 users.

Jira is really designed for remote teams and it does this very well.
A few recommendations/best practices:
Make sure your teams keep all their communication within the Jira issues themselves.
Make sure your team consistently updates their statuses and information/comments in Jira daily.
Try to minimize dependency on other tools like Excel. You want to make Jira your single source of truth.
Encourage all your teams (different disciplines) to use Jira as well. There are different Jira products such as Jira Product Discovery, Jira Service Management, and Jira Work Management that may be appropriate for different teams but they are all unified under a single Atlassian/Jira instance.
