View Points by user for closed sprints

Casey Enderlein June 12, 2024

Is there a way I can see total story points for a user on a closed Sprint within Jira's UI? I know I can see this (by entire team and individual user) for current/future sprints on the sprint board, and also know the sprint & velocity reports show total story points for closed sprints, but this is story points for the whole project team, not by individual user...

Hi, @Casey Enderlein

Unfortunately, Jira doesn't provide such a feature from the box. That's why we created two apps:

  1. Agile Reports and Gadgets - for scaled enterprises (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Less, SoS).
  2. Agile Velocity Chart - for smaller companies with only Scrum teams.

Both apps include the capability to see delivery data on the individual level. On top of that, you can decide how to frame the data:

1st option - create an Individual Velocity chart:

It shows closed sprints and active ones as well.

2nd option - create a Team/Cross-team Velocity chart with a breakdown by Assignee:

This chart allows you to explore data both on team and individual levels.

Is it what you were looking for?

Hi @Casey Enderlein

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting

With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

storypoints-per-assignee-and-sprint.gif

This works for closed sprints as much as for open or active sprints. Note that this is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports; you can also view and group by any other issue field(s), configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Casey Enderlein

If you would be interested in a mktplace app, pls do take a look at
Sprint Velocity & Status Gadgets

The app comes with couple of dashboard gadgets to track team member's velocity based on story points in a sprint  and also track sprint status with multiple parameters. The app works for past / closed sprints too.
