Video Attachments Playback Quality

Cosmin Munteanu December 17, 2024

Hello,

I would appreciate any help or additional information regarding video attachments in Jira tickets.

Has Jira recently made any changes to the processing, encoding, or compressing of video attachments when they are uploaded? We’re noticing a significant drop in playback quality, particularly for .mp4 files. Previously (around ~2 weeks ago), video quality wasn't affected.

This issue occurs only when viewing the video directly within the ticket. Downloading the video retains its original quality. However, it’s not always feasible for us to download videos to observe key details, which creates a bit of a workflow challenge.

Apologies if this topic has already been discussed or addressed elsewhere - I may have missed it!

Kind regards,

Cosmin Munteanu

Welcome @Cosmin Munteanu

Interesting. There aren't no official announcements by Atlassian about this issue. The best would be to ask them directly by submiting a support ticket.

Thank you for the welcome and quick reply @Nikola Perisic

Would you mind pointing me in the right direction for a ticket submission? I'm not sure if I'm lacking the permissions to submit one, or if I'm not looking in the right place.

If I try to contact support, my only options are "Browse the Community" or "View Documentation".

Thanks again,

Hi @Nikola Perisic are you the System Administrator for your account?  They're probably the one who would need to create the ticket?  Another possibility is that you're on the Free License for Jira.

I did find JRACLOUD-80208 on Atlassian's Jira Site.  That's the only open issue I see open at the moment. It kinda sounds related, but I'll leave that up to you.

Feel free to search out there for others for this issue and any other issues you may have.

Hope that helps.

Thank you @Dan Breyen

It definitely sounds somewhat related. I'll keep an eye on the database and see if I can find or submit the issue there.

Much appreciated,
