User can not login due to occassional unreachable AD server

Hi,

I connected a JIRA instance to a Microsoft Active Directory (Read Only, with Local Groups) connection. Often users can not login and the JIRA log says 'Directory 'Connect.local' is not functional during authentication of '{username}'. Skipped.' So basically it seems we have an issue with our AD server, but our IT department isn't able to find it.

I have been tweaking with the AD settings and turned off all performance decreasing features, but they haven't helped so far.

Can anybody recommend on this situation? I was thinking about adding some sort of LDAP cache server, to which JIRA would connect and which would keep a cache of the users and passwords, for when the real AD server isn't reachable. Has anybody done this?

Regards,

Gerben
