Unable to see child issue in issue detail screen on project

Pavan March 15, 2024

Needs to be able to create child issues from the Issue Detail Screen on the project. We need to update the default screens on projects to allow us to create Features from Initiatives and Epics on any project as child issues of a Feature.

Please correct me if I am mis-understanding your question.

It sounds like, if you are on an Feature, you want to be able to click somewhere in the 'Child Issues' section to create a new Epic that is a child of that Initiative the same way that you can click on the '+' in the 'Issues in Epics' panel and create a new child of the Epic.

If that's what you are looking to accomplish, there is no way to do that. You have to manually create the Epic and then set the Parent Link field on the Epic to be the Feature that should be the parent of the Epic.

I'm guessing this is because all of the Epic > Issue linking (and Parent > sub-task linking) is built into Jira directly because you those relationships are not user-configurable. But they didn't include the same functionality around the relationships above an Epic because those are all user-configurable.

Welcome to the community @Pavan

Not sure if I have understood you correctly. The Features and Initiatives need to be the parent issues as Epics need to be child issues of a Feature issue type?
