Hi
I am trying to perform a CSV import from a jira to another jira instance. However, when i take a excel export from my jira, it does not export the field comments.
I am on jira 6.2
How do i export comments in an excel?
Rahul
Hi guys,
I'm glad to introduce you our new JIRA add-on: Exporter (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.deiser.jira.exporter)
It was released yesterday and its features are basically to export issue comments and issue transitions summaries from the issue navigator to Microsoft Excel in the way you need.
I invite you to try it ... maybe it will be very useful for you.
Please, don't hesitate to use our issue tracker (https://jira.deiser.com) to report any issue during trial period. Also your feedback will be very appreciated.
Cheers,
Daniel.
Better Excel Plugin will export the comments to an Excel spreadsheet for you in any possible way:
Since the exporting logic is defined by some special placeholder tags and can be even capture in Groovy scripts, you can meet any exporting requirement.
You don't.
The comments are potentially open-ended, very long and hard to parse. Jira simply doesn't have a template for exporting them, so you won't get them.
There are a handful of plugins and scripted fields that enable comments to come out, but they don't do anything particularly clever with the formatting, it's a huge single block, so you'd be looking at having to parse them out, and you wouldn't retain the meta data on import anyway
CSV isn't really that suitable for Jira to Jira transfers, I'd be looking at project export/import, Jelly, the CLI, etc
Hi there,
With JExcel PRO you can export your issues to XLSX (or HTML) with the images, comments and attachments.
You can even see the comments in the grid!
Feel free to try it:

I hope you will like it. :)
