To find the right Custom Field and Rule.

Fikri Ahmad October 14, 2024

Hello,

Need assistance how to make choice in the custom field  and come out with the list needed.

Example in the screenshot.

Region.jpg

Example scenario:

Custom field = Region

Content in Region = Central, Northern

Content in Central = Station A, Station B

Content in Northern = Station C, Station D

When choose Region Central, custom field will list content in Central.

When Choose Region Northern , custom field will list content in Central.

What is the right Custom field to be used and any rules need to be apply?

Thanks.

Hi @Fikri Ahmad

So this is related to a JSM project.

You need to have a custom field of the type cascading select or dependent dropdown.

This is depending on the project type you are using, company or team managed

For this List Cascading, it provide 2 tier (two select list).

Is it have for 3 tier (three select list)?

Hello @Fikri Ahmad

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What type of project are you using? Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.

Essentially you need a cascading selection list. Exactly how you can get that depends on the type of project you are using.

Also what level of access do you have? Are you a Project Admin? Are you a Product/Jira Application Admin?

If the View All Projects screen showed just "Service Management" versus "Team-managed Service Management", then you are using a Company Managed project.

Example:

In that case you need to create a Select List (cascading) type of custom field and add it to the screens for the issue types where you want it available.
