Slow in showing versions/components in JIRA

Dear Atlassian Support!

In our organization we are using the version feature to track our various application releases. While doing so, we have to create multiple versions and components as well. As we grow the number of versions and components, pulling out the versions or components page takes a long time to load fully.

- Will archiving the versions help in reducing the page load time?

- Suggest any other fix which would reduce the page load time.

In JIRA 5.1.2 some significant performance improvements were made for the version admin page -

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-26083

Unfortunately, even with these improvements, with very large numbers of versions it can still have performance issues in IE. So if you're still having issues after upgrading, using a faster browser may be a viable workaround.

Archiving versions would definitely reduce the time to load as it will not appear on the page you described. Performance improvements have also been made to fix this in the newer versions of JIRA.
