We are looking to create a separate data warehouse for JIRA to allow users to run reports for a much longer time span than running against our production instance of JIRA. Where can I locate the Database Schema for JIRA so we can replicate a database to do this? Or is it easier to use the backup XML to import this data into our data warehouse? We are on JIRA Server 7.6.1
Jira's database is very much a data store, and it's absolutely bloody awful to try to run reports off. I really would go with XML extracts instead.
But your best option is probably flexible reporting tools that understand the data properly - EazyBI and Dataplane are the two I've seen do clever things with it.
Thank you for the response sir. I agree with you Nic, however, the rest of the team wants to go towards the data warehouse solution. We have had a few performance issues with users pulling time reports across all projects or for longer than a certain time greater than 2 years. So I am just trying to hopefully find the database schema or if doing the backup XML would hopefully achieve this as well as far as getting a database set up for the warehouse side.
