Product Sprint and Backlog button not visible in JIRA

Charlie February 27, 2018

Hi,

I've not been able to find an answer to this. I'm running JIRA Software version 7.5.1 on RHEL 7.4 server.

This is what we see in the Project's view of any project:

JIRA.jpg

I'm told that in the circled area there should be an option for "Sprints" and "Backlog", they're not there and I'm not sure how to add or enabled them. This is the case whether the project is created as Basic Software or Scrum Software.

Also in the top menu, there is no option for "Boards"... is this something we should have under this version of JIRA Software, or are there any add-ons that will enable what we're missing?

Thank you.

Hi Charlie,

  • Has this always been the case?
  • Does it happen for every user?
  • Did this start after an upgrade or another system change?
  • Is the license active?

I would first start by taking a look at Agile Sidebar Missing Backlog and Active Sprint Menu.  There was a workaround from a previous issue that may be causing this to occur in the current version:

Re-enable the board-scope-filter module:

  • Navigate to JIRA Administration > Add-ons > Manage add-ons
  • Select to show "All add-ons"
  • Locate JIRA Agile and expand the modules

  • Locate the board-scope-filter module and enable it

If this is happening to a select group of people verify their Application Access:

  1. Login in to JIRA with any user that have JIRA Administrator global permission.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Applications > Application Access.
  3. Check if the problematic user belongs to any groups that assigned to JIRA Software.
  4. If no, then you may need to add the user to the user group.

Next I would try a background re-index.  Finally, take a look at the logs and see if you can find anything around startup that is related and you can post the snippet here for assistance.

Cheers,

Branden
