Possible to compare fields in different issues?

Two part question.

1) Is it possible to compare date fields in two different issues?

For instance, I'd like to create an automation rule that detects if "Date Planned Finish" of a child issue exceeds "Date Planned Finish" in it's parent issue.

2) If the child date exceeds the parent date, is it possible to auto update the parent with data from the child's "Date Planned Finish"?

For context, I'm working on Data Center 9.12.8 with Scriptrunner, and I'm new to Scriptrunner and scripting language in general.
