Are you working with Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center?

Did you check the All tab under Activity for the issue? That should show when and by whom the comment was deleted.

 

The comments I made on a card have disappeared, how do I recover them?

I made some comments on a card, and the next day they disappeared out of nowhere, is there a way to recover them and find out how they were deleted?
