OnDemand versions for download?

Harry Chan Aug 29, 2012

Hi, having seen Confluence OD for download in the early access program, are there plans for OD versions of JIRA and Confluence to be released for download at any stage?

It would be cool if not otherwise to somewhere get the whole integration, including the top navigation bit.

Hi Harry,

This version is just for people who currently have an OnDemand site and want to migrate to their own hosted version of Confluence.

It's only meant for use between the time they migrate and the next proper release of Confluence. It's to enable people to migrate without problems that could arise from a feature being in OnDemand (where they get released first) but not yet in the latest downloadable version.

As an example, right now, you can insert Tasks into a page in the version of Confluence running in OnDemand, but that will ship in the downloadable version in 4.3. If you created Tasks on a page then exported that to a 4.2.x install, you will have issues.

For full details please see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Migrating+from+Confluence+OnDemand+to+a+Confluence+Installed+Site

Thanks,
John

This was at an early stage -- by now the OnDemand platform has been streamlined and running in a very specific environment. As far as I know, we're not planning on releasing Confluence OD, sorry about that.

Any chance of having a top navigation plugin or some other enhancements to provide better integration between the products then?

Unfortunately there are no plans on releasing this either, as this is tightly integrated with the OnDemand platform : /
