Not able to move tasks from card to card

Hello, I am working in a company managed project. My teammates are not able to move tasks from To Do to In Progress but can directly move to Done. What could be the issue.

This will most likely be a permission issue on workflow.

Can you review the workflow and ensure there is no condition blocking the transition from To DO -> In Progress.

If issues can be transitioned to Done from Any status, that could be the reason why team is able to move issue from To Do to Done

As you are unable move issues from one column to another, I request you to validate the below settings.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

  1. Workflow Restrictions:

    • It's possible that the workflow associated with your project has restrictions that prevent tasks from moving directly from "To Do" to "In Progress." Check the workflow to ensure that there is a transition path from "To Do" to "In Progress."
    • Solution: Navigate to the project settings, select "Workflows," and review the transitions between statuses. Ensure that there is a valid transition from "To Do" to "In Progress."
  2. Permissions:

    • Sometimes, permission settings can restrict certain users from transitioning issues between specific statuses.
    • Solution: Verify that you have the necessary permissions to transition issues. You can do this by checking the "Transition Issues" permission in the project's permission scheme.
  3. Board Configuration:

    • If you are using a board, the columns might not be mapped correctly to the workflow statuses.
    • Solution: Go to the board settings and ensure that the "In Progress" column is correctly mapped to the appropriate workflow status.
