I have a team-managed project and there is a user that I want to remove.

When I go to >Project Settings >Access, they are not listed there.

However when I go to the Board view, I can see their name in the little circle.

How can I remove them from seeing anything on the board?

Hello @Brooke Butler

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

What is the Access settings for the Team Managed product?

If the Access settings is not Private then any user with access to your site will be able to see the project contents. Refer to

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/next-gen-permissions/

TM projects that are set to Open or Limited access will be visible to any user with licensed access to your Jira site, without requiring them to be added explicitly to the individual project.

Note that being able to see the user as an avatar on the project board does not mean that the user can see the project content.

Hi @Trudy Claspill Its set as Private.

Oh re avatar. Why would their avatar be the only non-project member that is displaying?

Is the user an Assignee or Reporter, currently or in the past, of any of the issues in the project?

@Trudy Claspill  - yes you are right :) I just did a search and found they were assigned to a task when we originally created the project. I have unassigned them and now cannot see their avatar. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Brooke - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Did you take them out of the project? Did you mark them as inactive?

Also, make sure there is nothing on the board that is assigned to the or which they are the Reporter.

Hey @John Funk - yes they helped set up the board and then we took them out of the project. Maybe because they were an original 'reporter' thats why their avatar is still showing? Does that mean they wont be able to see anything on the board?

If they don't have access, they should not be able to see the project and board. But go ahead and replace them as the Reporter or Assignee for any issues they might appear on. That should make their avatar disappear from the board, too.
