Migrating Local -> Active Directory: Lost Groups

Jörg T_ March 28, 2019

We just managed to change from internal User Directory to Active Directory User Directory.

We used the same user names, so that transition will be smoothe.

However: after changing the order to AD first, our JIRA URL forwards to our Service-Desk-Portal. It seems that it lost all groups the user belongs to.

Since we don't have an internal account with a name that is not in the AD, it seems that no one is admin and can login to the JIRA to fix anything.

It seems like we locked our self out completely.

Any ideas how to solve that?

THANKS!!

Hi,

first you will need change order of user directories.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/administrator-cannot-login-after-reordering-user-directories-235669137.html

Then you will be able log in as before or if need use this KB article.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/retrieving-the-jira-administrator-192836.html

So then you can manage groups for AD users and when you will be done you can enable AD user directory and set it as in first order.

Perfect! Thanks a lot. (Strange that I didn't find the post...)
