Hi all,

I've been working on a solution to help a couple of Scrum teams get more insight on their performance during sprints. They use story points to estimate their work. As of now my colleague manually puts the results of sprint reports in an Excel file, and I'm trying to semi-automate that for him by extracting sprint details to a CSV file, merging those files together and loading that in Power BI. While this way is not ideal and still requires manual labour, it's faster and more accurate than copying everything by hand.

There is a problem that I'm facing which I hope this wonderful community can help me with:

-As of recently the teams started working with 'Original story points' which will have the first 'Story points' value if this changes (for example when a team either completes a couple story points of work or if they increase the number because it's more work than planned). While this is fine when a story is completed in two sprints or less, I see some issues regarding tracking completed work during sprints because the 'Story Points' field will just be overridden. I'm having trouble with that because what we want is that that change of story points (from let's say 5 to 3 because 2 story points were completed) to be counted towards the amount of story points completed during a sprint. I've also noticed that there is no real history tracking outside of sprint reports (story points get overridden). And in the velocity chart it looks like teams have a lot of work to do and barely complete anything sometimes, because of the 'all or nothing' count of completed story points. Those stories will be dragged along to the next sprint, including all of the points.

In short, I want to track completed work during a sprint more accurately but I'm having trouble with this because I can't do anything with the 'in between' story points.

Do you have ideas on how I can solve this?

P.s. I cannot use any plugins from the Marketplace.

Hi @Pjiter 👋

I work for a Time in Status and I believe that our add-on could be useful for you.

However, you mentioned that you cannot use Marketplace plugins, and I was wondering if you could please share the reason why.

This information would be very helpful for us. Thank you!

Also forgot to mention, we want the story points to 'reset' after a PI, so that story points from the previous PI don't count towards the new estimate. Is this possible in any way?
