Link Jira to Github Enterprise problem

MikeGile October 2, 2019

I am trying to link Github Enterprise to my Jira instance and after I enter the OAuth Key and OAuth secret it just comes back with a 404 page not found error. I am an admin in both Jira and Git. I have both pages up and logged into in the same browser window. What am I doing wrong? It seems really simple and straightforward but I can't get it to work.

Hi Mike,

I see that you're getting a 404 error when trying to integrate Jira Server with Github enterprise.  The fact that you can reach both sites from the same browser session is good information to have.  We can understand that at least your client machine can reach both sites at their respective addresses.  However, we can't make the same assumption that the Jira server is able to reach your Github enterprise site on that same address, or that the Github site can reach the Jira site at that address.

Could you share with us some more details about the addresses of each site here? (Jira and github)  Any details you can add here too, such as is either site using HTTPS/SSL for its connection?  Or if either site is using a proxy/load balancer here might be helpful in determining why we see a 404 here.

What version of Jira is this?

If possible, it might help to try to get directly on the Jira server itself, and if you have access to a gui there, see if you can use a web browser on that server to try to reach the address you have for the github enterprise site directly.

Alternative to this, try to recreate this 404 error, and then see if you can pull up the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file.  I'd be interested to see if this log file can give us any more details about the failed connection here that might point us in the right direction.

Please let me know the results.

Andy
