Jira Ugrade from 6.4 to 7.1

Team Werkzeugunterstuetzung April 4, 2016

Hello,

we are currently using Jira 6.4.11 and are planning to upgrade to Jira 7.1, I have some questions regarding the new product.

When uprading from Jira 6.4 to Jira 7.1 are we automatically getting Jira Service Desk as well? Or is this an extra addon? If yes does this cost anything or is there a new license needed?

If someone uses already Jira Service Desk in the cloud is it possible to migrate it to a self-hosted Jira? If yes, how big is the effort?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards

No.  Service desk is an add-on for JIRA 6, and becomes an application in JIRA 7+.  It is an "extra".

See https://www.atlassian.com/software and note that there are three JIRA products there!

Yes, you can migrate from Cloud to Server.  The amount of effort is not generally huge, but there is always some.

Hi Nic,

thanks for the answer. By application you mean that it also needs to installed on a server correct? Not as a add-on on the already existing JIRA.

No, applications in this context, are things that run inside JIRA.  You install JIRA on a server, then add Software and/or Service Desk applications to that.

Add-ons are also added to JIRA in a similar way.  But they're not JIRA Applications, they're still add-ons.
