We want a way we can track how good/bad a developer on fixing the problem by tracking # of tickets that spur out of his/her fixed tickets. Let said person A fixed PROD-1234, and that fix actually end up with 15 more problems during testing phase. The PROD-1234, then move along (w/o caring all those test tickets being link) the workflow and assigned a new person. So how would we track the # via the original assignee? Even if we create a new field to track original developer, that field can still be changed for a ticket involves with multiple developers.

Hi Eva,

Sounds like an interesting problem but there are a few bits of information missing.

  1. What version of Jira are you using?
  2. How are the test defects linked to the original issue ?
  3. If you have more than one developer, how do you attribute which failures are against which developer?
  4. Who's raising the test tickets? Is there not scope for pulling the information into the Test Defect rather than attaching the test info to the developer ticket?

There are a number of things you could do with workflows & some extra plugins.

Thanks,

Matt
