JIRA - Problem with updating fields

Vivek Sangar December 11, 2011

Hi,

we are using JIRA 4.4.x and are experiencing problems when updating fields in a project.

For example, if I create a project and a certain version I cannot update the fields of the version e.g. "Description" once it is created.

Also, if we assign developers for a project, we cannot update them at a later stage. If we update it the "loading" icon keeps appearing but never updates the data, same for Version etc.

Thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "cannot update the fields"?

Are you using "Edit"? Or a workflow transition?

What is the "loading icon" - the browser or something else?

Is it all the fields, or just some of them?

Is it one project or all of them?

What does your log say?

What happens if you leave it to run for a few minutes?

it also happens when I try to delete a version.

by edit I mean changing the values through the interface by adding new users to a project or changing version descriptions. all fields are affected in all projects.

I will have to ask our sys admin to give me access to the logs.

Even leaving it running/loading for a few minutes shows just the "loading" circle. I will upload a screenshot somewhere and post the link here.

So you're doing admin stuff, rather than editing the issues? Does editing the issues work ok? Changing version descriptions should be quick, because it doesn't affect the projects (it's a label, rather than actual data), and similarly for users, there's very little data actually being changed.

If it is just admin stuff, you definitely need to read the logs to find out how far it's getting through the operations.

Question - do you have any popup blockers installed? I've seen Jira "churn" on simple operations when it's actually waiting for a return from a popup, which I've either had blocked, or managed to click away behind the main browser. It's probably not that, but it's worth ruling it out.

Hi,

there is no pop-up blocker.

I looked in the "atlassian-jira" log file, but did not find anything relating to this.

Editing issues works fine.
