Is there a better option to see the changes made to a JIRA issue than the current default which shows what the new values are and what the old values were? In partciular I would like to use this in the email notifications so it is clearer to users what has changed.
Something like the Confluence change view would be nice. See link for image

Not really, but you could always
# Write your own history tab
# Amend your email templates for better formatting (I have to agree with you on that one - the default emails are useful to get as a note that something has changed, but I don't know anyone who really reads them because the formatting is not friendly). See http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Customising+Email+Content
Thanks Nic,
I was hoping someone else had done the hard work for me :)
This will go on the to-do list and might get done one day.

JIRA 4.4 shipped with completely re-styled email templates, that included red/green diff highlighting for changed fields. Have you had a look at 4.4 to see if it is what you are looking for?

Matt,
I didn't know that, thanks.
We are evaluating JIRA 4.4 at the moment so I went in to check it out. The email I got was just like v4.3 ... no pretty pictures or anything :(
Do I have to turn the new email formatting on anywhere in 4.4 OR are is there any configuration I need to do?
Thanks, Mick
