Is there a way to configure the default value for system field "Component"?

I have added 3 components to my project and want to make one of them the default. How can I configure that? I am on Jira version 4.3.4

There was a new feature request for this: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-19653 that was closed because it wouldn't be implemented in the forseeable future. So I guess it's not possible.
