Why epics not displaying in backlogs in Jira. In backlog only stories will appear or we could able to see all the issues types in backlog.
how to bring epics in backlog in server any possible ways?
hi @Lisa New
Depending on your project type, it may or may not be possible.
In a team-managed Kanban project, epics cannot be displayed as cards. But you can see them in the epics panel.
In Scrum projects, epics are not typically associated with sprints since they might span multiple sprints. Therefore, they are displayed on the epics panel in the backlog.
In company-managed Kanban projects, it is possible.
To do this, go to the board configurations by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the board view. Then select "Columns" from the sidebar and scroll down to the Epics section. Choose the "Display as cards on the board" option.
Note: to open the epics panel check this image
Hi @Lisa New
If you are referring to Scrum related projects, than this is not possible.
The Epics will not show intermixed with the child issues in the list of issues in the Backlog screen for a Scrum board. You can, however, display the Epics in a pane that will display between the navigation pane on the left and the issue list.
This relates to the same issue on Cloud, see https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-22865
On Kanban board, you can see the Epics listed with work in the backlog, you may disable the Epics Panel. You may find that setting in ... > Board Settings > Columns

Hi Marc,
Thanks. In company managed scrum project viewing backlog in epics is not possible right?
Also do we have documentation from Atlassian regarding this?

Hi @Lisa New
Correct in a Scum project issues can't be viewed in the backlog.
There is no documentation on this specific, its just no possible in the project type in Jira.
You could check this, https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/templates/scrum-backlog
But if a function doesn't exists, I don't think that would be mentioned on documentation.
