How to show Sprints in timeline

Raj Grewal August 12, 2024

Hi,

How do I set up the timelines to start showing the Sprints ?
It has been assigned and I had a look online but there is no group option for me and there was nothing in the teams section (Maybe they were a older version of Jira)

See image: https://shorturl.at/1vRbl

Many Thanks

Hi @Raj Grewal

1) The first thing to ask is if this is a team or company managed project.

2) If it's a company managed project, it would need to be setup as a scrum project (not Kanban)

3) Go to the 3 dots in your picture. It'll give you the option to Configure Timeline

4) Set to "Schedule by sprint dates"

Hello Raj,

To display sprints in timeline view you need to use Jira Scrum Boards as source for your timeline.

Let's say you have two teams each working on its own Scrum Board.

Go to your timeline settings -> issue sources and choose each scrum board as a source for your issues.

Additionnaly, use the "Teams" section of your timeline to add and configure your teams.

Make sure issues within sprints are estimated and check the estimation type used within the timeline under Settings -> Planning

Finally use the upper right "Settings" button of your timeline to group issues by Team.

I hope this helps

Kind regards

Andrei
