How to restrict to a subset of users (eg. by Project Role) the available values in the combobox "assignee" when changing status.

In my workflow every step is logically "owned" by a Project Role ( eg: the step "Test" is logically owned by Project Role "Tester" and the step "Develope" si logically owned by the "Developer").

When I change status to my issue I want only to see the owners of the next step in combo Assignee (eg. When changing from Develop to Test I want to see only the users having "Tester" as Project Role in the Assignee combobox).

In the workflow you can define step specific permissions using step properties. In your case you could define one group per step and set the step property jira.permission.assignable.group=[step specific group] this will restrict the list of assignees in the select list to exactly this step specific group when your issue is at this step You might also use roles, users and user and group custom fields. Google for jira.permission

Sounds like you want the Alternative Assignee plugin: https://plugins.atlassian.com/plugin/details/5063 .

Thank you but I'm using Jira 4.4. Any other suggestion?
