How to get/set user's jira home page to Dashboard programatically

Škařupa Miroslav August 30, 2022

Hello,

I would like to have script that checks for specific user that this user has set in his user preferences that after login to Jira what sees the first is own dashboard ("MY JIRA HOME = DASHBOARD") and if this is not set, set it.

Please see screenshot in attachement.

Why?

This would be a poor experience for your users, to have their preferences stomped on every time you run the script.

I strongly recommend that you forget this idea and let the users customise their usage to suit themselves.

This is special case for special limited  group of users with very poor knowledge of Jira. The goal is to ensure that after they log in to Jira they will always see one specific dashboard ... this is almost all their work in Jira.

When new people first log into Jira, they will land on the system dashboard.

It is rare for people to change that until they've learned enough about using Jira to understand what they're doing with the defaults.

You should design a simple, and guiding, system dashboard, instead of overwriting settings which people probably haven't yet changed.
