Hello,
Can someone provide instructions or any insight on how to auto populate custom fields in parent tickets to subtask? Is there an automation that someone is aware of.
Thanks,
Z
@Zahin Hassan I would recommend performing this in Automation over Post-Functions as it is far simpler to build/write and you are notified if/when errors occur. Here's how we're performing this task for Active Directory requests.
Unfortunately nothing is built-in so you have to define everything yourself, but this works very well.
Many thanks for that quick turnaround. Is there an option to populate previous historical data from parent tickets to subtasks?

Yes, just use Scheduled as your trigger. You'll have to write out the JQL for the appropriate pieces to apply, but you can run a Scheduled automation at-will or you can let it run whenever you like.

Many thanks!!! This is helping me a lot with a current blocker. Thanks again for your insight and expertise!

Hi @Zahin Hassan welcome to the community. I'd suggest you put this on the Create Transition of the Sub-Task as a post function. You could also write an automation providing you are using Data Center or Cloud Enterprise.

Hello Craig,
Thanks for the warm Welcome!
We are a Data center.
Thanks,

@Craig Nodwell apologies for the off-topic question, but why do you mention Data Center or Cloud Enterprise? Is automation not available on the Cloud Premium version?

They are but there's scaling considerations when on other offerings.

Can you share a bit more detail or link me to where I can find more? We are looking to move to Cloud Premium in the coming months and are heavily dependent on automations. I can't find anything about limitations.
