I use JIRA Cloud product, and I would like to link to a document on an internal network drive (pdf, doc, xls, etc).

I found a negative answer on the community, dated from 2020 :

Solved: create a link in an issue description to an intern...

Maybe today there is a way to achieve that ?

Hello Clotilde,

Regarding your question about linking to internal documents from JIRA Cloud, I understand you're looking to reference files like PDFs, Word docs, and Excel spreadsheets stored on your company's network drive. While JIRA Cloud can't directly access internal file systems, here are some options you could consider:
  1. Upload the documents to JIRA: You can attach files directly to JIRA issues, making them accessible within the JIRA environment. This is useful for smaller files that are specific to an issue.
  2. Use a cloud storage service: Consider uploading your documents to a cloud storage service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. You can then paste the sharing links into JIRA issues. This allows you to maintain your file structure while providing access through JIRA.
  3. Implement Confluence: If you're not already using it, Confluence integrates well with JIRA and can serve as a document repository. You can create Confluence pages with your documents and link them to JIRA issues.
  4. Explore third-party apps: There are apps available in the Atlassian Marketplace that might provide functionality to link to internal documents. However, you'd need to carefully evaluate their security and compatibility with your systems.

My recommendation is to start by uploading critical documents directly to JIRA issues, and for larger sets of documents, consider implementing a cloud storage solution that integrates well with JIRA Cloud.

Don't hesitate to reach out if you need more assistance or have any questions about implementing these solutions!

Best regards,
Eric
