How do I put only some "To Do" issues in my backlog and not all of them?

Taylor Douthitt June 24, 2024

Looking to put some of my "To Do" issues in my project backlog and not all of them. Some issues are not intended to be start for over a year, but other "To Do" issues need to be on our radar. When configuring my board under "Column Management" it looks like I can only put all of my "To Do" items in the backlog. Is there another global status I'm not aware of?

It won't let me upload the pictures I'm trying to

Hello @Taylor Douthitt

With what type of board are you working? Is it a Kanban board?

If so, an issue's inclusion in the Backlog list (vs. on the board) is based on its Status. You can not split issues in a single Status between multiple columns or between the Backlog and the Board.

You could use some other flag on the issue, like a specific label value or a date field, to indicate that the issues should be excluded from the Backlog for this board. You would update the board's filter to exclude the issues from the board based on that "flag".
