How can I import from Mantis to Jira?

Tom Isaacson August 8, 2011

We're planning to move from Mantis to Jira using the Jira Importers Plugin and we want to import everything so we can maintain the software history. But there are a few things I'm not sure about:

  1. We currently integrate Mantis with Subversion using TortoiseSVN's bugtraq settings, so Mantis includes commits made against issues as changesets. Will this history be maintained in Jira?
  2. The Mantis ID is kept as "Bug Import ID" in Jira. Is it possible to search against this? Can I specify a URL that will do this automatically?

Thanks for any help.

1. Not really. Jira's subversion integration is based on Jira reading your repo and keeping the data it's interested in in a local index file. So some of your information will appear in Jira because Jira will read it out of your repo. But I don't know about bugtraq or changeset stuff. If that isn't held in Subversion, or in Mantis fields, then I suspect it will vanish.

2. Yes, it is. It's no different from any other custom field. Do a search in your issue navigator for a specific Mantis ID and check the url in the browser.

2. This doesn't seem to work. If I do a search for a Bug Import ID in issue navigator the URL is https://jira.thingy.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?, but if I attempt to use this to find another issue it fails (e.g. https://jira.thingy.com/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?6000).
