I am trying to add the Epic Link to all screens of all issue types in a project in a Jira Data Center instance I administer. The field is scoped to the project and enabled in the field config, and I've added it to all required screens. However, it is still not appearing on any screens. I used the "Where is my field?" tool to investigate, and it confirms that "The 'Epic Link' field should be present on the form you are viewing". I also re-indexed the project, but the field is still not present.
I've never encountered a similar issue before, and I don't know if it is an error in our database or if anyone has seen this before. Jira is version 9.12.13.
Hi @James Worthington ,
Is the field populated? If you press '.' while on the Jira issue (the shortcut to find fields), and start typing 'Epic', did you find the field?
The field doesn't have a value set as it is not available on the Create or Edit screens. However, when clicking '.' on an issue it does give me the option to add an Epic Link.

Hi! And if you set a value using the 'edit epic link' shown in the screenshot, does it populate in the screen where you'd expect to see it?

Yes, the Epic Link will then populate and appear on the view screen. When I clicked the edit button next to the Epic Link on the view screen, the field briefly appeared on the edit screen where it should be, but then disappeared almost immediately. After it is set once using the '.' shortcut, it cannot be set again as '.' takes me to the edit screen, which is only available for a fraction of a second.

After my last response I realized this sort of behavior was likely due to Scriptrunner hiding the field. I checked the Scriptrunner behaviors, and there was a behavior I was not aware of that was hiding the Epic Link field in this particular project (for reasons I am not aware of). So the issue is resolved! Thanks for your troubleshooting help.
