Hello to all of you,
In our organization, we have just started to use Jira Cloud in our organization. Actually, we are not able to set a customized Kanban board that we could use for all of our projects. Is there a possibility to create a board by default and then applying it for our new projects automatically?
Thank you very much
My first question will be why do you want one same Kanban board for all your projects? Any specific reason?
Kanban Boards are a neat and nice way to see your team work progress. Having one same board for all your projects will make it very slow to upload, crowded, and from experience you will end up giving up using it.
Try to have a board for each of your projects is the best way.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Best,
Fadoua
The reason why we want a Kanbar board similar to all of our projects is because most of our projects are pretty similar, we have a lot of them and they're pretty small and it would save us a lot of time. Basically, the only thing that we want by default is the name and the numbers of column. With the Kanban default board actually, there's only 3 columns which in our organization, we need 5 of them.
Hope that it helps you understand our needs.
Thank you,
Nicolas

In this case once you create a project you add the same Kanban Board to it.
Your Kanban Board columns are your workflow's transitions. If you want to add more columns, go to:
Board -> Configure -> Columns -> Add Column

Hello,
We know how to modify the board once we create a project. However, what we want is to have already these columns when the project is created and not to have to create them every time we're creating a new project.
Thank you,
Nicolas

Unfortunately you will have to create them everytime because when you create the board it comes with the main 3 columns To Do - In Progress - Done (that's the standard JIRA workflow)
If you make a change to the workflow then you will have to update those columns manually.
I hope it makes sense.

Fadoua

Hmmm. I noticed the same fault in Jira. They put a lot of emphasis on configurability and defaluts, but don't provide a way to configure and save a default board. We have a complex workflow and it would be nice to keep the our default set of workflow and status settings together with a board visualization since they work together. Now it seems I need to tell folks to create a number of columns and map them, for every single board created. This will introduce errors and inconsistencies in the way our boards a presented.

I am running into the same problem. I was able to create a single set of schemes (issue, workflow, screen, issue type screen, etc) that I wanted to use across all my projects. I then created a project, set it up to use those schemes, and update the board to align with my workflows.
Now when I create a new project, I can share these settings with the new project. For the most part, this worked with the exception of the board.
A couple problems
1. A board isn't created by default for me
2. When I create a board, it doesn't create columns that align with my workflow.
Anyone figured out how to solve this problem?
