×Greetings Atlassians! I am trying to solve a complex solution and will have to use my "phone a friend" option. :)
I have a text (single-line) custom field on an existing screen that needs to be uneditable by all but the members of an organization group.
If you are not a member of the Org group, you can see the custom field but cannot edit its value. However, you can edit the custom field if you are a member of the Org group or a Jira Admin.
I have tried several approaches, but no solution is in sight. Have any admins run into this problem before and have a solution?
I sincerely appreciate the help, ideas, laughter, etc. There must be a way, but I can't find it. Are there any takers?
The new issue layout do not allow you to hide fields from being edited, and Jira do not have field level security. You would need one of the apps in the Marketplace that can do field level security in order to do this. You could probably also do this with one of the scripting apps, like Scriptrunner and Power Scripts.
