Can't use Jira components after deleting Compass

Jason Haynes May 5, 2024

Signed up for Compass, because it said I could always switch back.

Switched back to Jira.

1) All of my existing components were erased!

2) I cannot create any components in that project!  (I can in other projects.)

Any ideas?  Also, beware of "You can always switch back!" I guess.

I took some time to test your issue, but I'm glad you found the switch LOL

Hello Jason, Thank you for your question. If I got your issue correctly, All your existing components were erased after switching from Compass back to Jira components.  I did create a test case below and did not see any issues. Please read through the steps and let me know if yours is different. Please share screen captures when possible to elaborate.

Created two test components

Go to Compass and create one component

Switching back to Jira you noticed both Components created in Jira are gone and now replaced by that from Compas

This is because the switch is ON

Once you turn the Switch OFF, you should get all your Jira Components back

Let me know if this helps.

I found the setting, and it brought back all of my old jira components!!

First of all, if anyone's having trouble removing Compass, that instruction is here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Compass-questions/Remove-Compass-from-cloud-site/qaq-p/2014427 (and I notice someone else posted the same question I had).

Somehow I found the switch: 1) Project Settings 2) Components 3) In the upper-right corner, it'll say something like "Compass components" (even though compass is uninstalled).  Click it, then select Jira components.
