I've found that if I post an answer to any thread in the Community Forum, I can't edit it thereafter. After making any edits, I click the Publish button, but nothing happens... zero, zilch, nada. No errors, no dialog windows, the page just sits there.
If I click the Cancel button, then Cancel and Discard button, the page goes in a loop and back, never discarding anything.
Anyone else having this issue? I tried three different browsers and all the same
Hi,
Thanks for reporting this problem. Our team found there was a recent change made to the site that appears to have unintentionally had the affect of edits not working as expected.
The team has just deployed a fix for this within the last half-hour. It should now be resolved.
Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks again for reporting it to us.
Andy
Thanks. I can now edit answers.
However, the issue that @Bill Sheboy has mentioned whereby pasted text is not inserted at the selected point but at the end of the text is still in effect. That's not a deal breaker for me, just a slight annoyance.

Hi David - I have not had that experience. Will try it now.

Yep, having the same issue. Will see if someone from Atlassian can take a look

@David Bakkers - This appears to be working now. Can you check and confirm?

Still not working. I created a test answer to this question, above, and now I can't edit it:
Strangely, I can make multiple edits to this reply to your answer and publish them.
Also, there is no 'Details' text above the text field nor any red asterisk when editing replies.

Hmm, I just tested a reply as well and not a new answer. Let me try that.

Yep, verified the same thing. I can edit a reply, but not an answer.

OK, I'll leave you with it for the time being.
I up-voted this main answer thread to keep it at the top.

Yes, and...I noticed two specific problems with editing community answers in the last three weeks:
#1) Exactly what you described, occurring as recently as 3pm US Pacific Time yesterday (11 August 2024). I edited an answer, it seemed to freeze / not detecting the change on publish. When I cancelled and re-entered the edit form, it showed I had a pending edit but would not publish it. Cancel, tab close, or browser close was the only exit.
#B) When editing an answer, selecting a location within the answer, and pasting in text, the edit box instead always appended the text to the end of the post, and not the selected location. Repeated attempts to paste inside did not work, and instead I had to manually retype in the text and delete the appends. Drag-and-drop of text in the edit box did not work either.
For both of these, I tried the obvious diagnostics: clear all cached information / close / reload browser, try another browser, incognito tab with no addons, etc. As community pages regularly show errors in the developer panels for the browser, I didn't bother to check those.
Kind regards,
Bill

Both symptoms just happened again to me, preventing publishing question response edits.
