Comments in JIRA tickets are disappearing. How is this possible? Does a JIRA Administrator have the ability to delete previously entered user comments in a JIRA ticket?

I suggest removing delete permission for comments from everyone. Actions, in the issue may be based on a comment. Removing the comment may call into question why someone did something. In my opinion JIRA should be treated as a system of record and nothing deleted.

@rfeehan

It depends on the permission scheme configured for the project.

If the Edit all comments / Delete all comments permission is granted then it could be possible

Hi,

yes, it is possible, that some users have this ability.

Check permissions settings for your project. There are two permissions:

  • which users can delete all comments in project
  • which users can delete own comments in project
