Can I configure the format of a created users email address during CSV import?

I am experimenting with the CSV import function, and I see that I can get JIRA to automatically add users which are not currently in the system (e.g. "Fred BLOGGS"), but that the email address takes the format:

<first letter of firstname><surname>@mycompany.com

e.g.

fbloggs@mycompany.com

In our company we use the email convention <firstname>.<surname>@mycompany.com

Is there a way to define this as the format of the email address to create? I have looked at the documentation and there doesn't seem to be any way to configure this.

[Currently we are running JIRA 3.13, though we hope to upgrade to 4.4 as soon as practical]

I have looked and looked and I think the answer is "No, you cannot configure the format of the generated email address. You can only choose what the email domain name is".
