×I've noticed that bulk update of the Component field is available for some of our Jira (cloud) projects but not for others. I'm curious why this is. What governs whether or not the component field can be bulk updated for a project? I've compared schemas and other settings between the projects, but nothing is jumping out at me. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Hello @Steve Goodwin
What are the project types for the projects where it is not supported? Are those Company Managed Software projects?
For example Team Managed projects don't yet support Components, so you could not bulk update components in such projects.
Does the user have permission to change the Component values in the issues in the project directly?
How exactly are you discerning that bulk updating the Components is not supported for those projects?
@Trudy Claspill , thank you for your reply.
All of the projects are Company-Managed.
The users have project administrator access. I observe this situation, and I have Jira administrator access.
When I say that we can't update the Components field, I'm basing that on the presence or absence of "Change Components" option in the Edit Issues' Operation Details screen.

At the bottom of the Edit Issues screen in the bulk change process there is a section that lists Unavailable Actions. Check there to see if it has any comment about Change Components being unavailable.

Never mind.
I found my problem... operator error.
There were no components in the project.
We use components widely, and have a base set of common components each project should be configured with. It didn't even occur to me that a project might not have them, so I didn't think to check the Components list.
Furthermore, I wasn't aware of the "Unavailable Actions" section at the bottom of the Operation Details screen. I just happened to stumble on it, and it clearly stated the problem.

Great!

Weird... you posted your second comment before I posted my "never mind" reply, but it wasn't showing up for me. I didn't see it until now. Thank you!
