Had a JIRA install up and running, but messed it up. Uninstall did not work, so removed the folder. did a new, clean install, but it won't run anymore.

Any ideas on this?

There was 1 service under the Services menu in Windows. I was not running. I started it, and now it works again.

Hopefully it will work even after a reboot, when Services are started...

You want to do SC DELETE <servicename> before you install again

the service name is the name shown when looking at the service properties.

Well, in my attempts of trying and trying i just removed the last version, so no log file.

I can only do the install 1 more time, recreate the bug and check them then. Will do that, but will take a while...

Seems you have a service with the same name. Looks like you removed the folder but forgot to delete the windows service!

Hi Maarten,

Seems that you haven't remove the previously created Windows service. You might want to delete the previously created service or create a new one with a different name.

Hope it helps

Hi Maarten,

On this kind of case, the recommend way is to contact Atlassian support trough this site https://support.atlassian.com.

You would get the appropriate method support from there from Atlassian support engineer.

If you would like to troubleshoot yourself, you might want to check this following file

  • catalina.out (<JIRA_Install_Dir>/logs/catalina.out)
  • atlassian-jira.log (<JIRA_HOME_Dir>/logs/atlassian-jira.log)

The above files might give you some clue on what happen on your instance. You might also want to check JIRA knowledge base to check if there are any known issue related to your case.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Septa Cahyadiputra
