Automation for Jira can't add user to a watcher, it says that user does not have a permission for this issue, and I know that it hasn't, I add the user to a watcher because I need him to see the issue
Automation have a permission to add a watchers and see the task
I can add this specific user manually in the task, but not through an Automation
User who I adding to a watchers, doesn't have permission to see the task
What can I do to solve that ?
Hello @Alex Baker
Please show us the full automation rule and the details of the step where you are trying to add the user as a Watcher.
Is this for issues in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?
A Watcher may not be able to see an issue if:
1. They don't have any permissions to see issues in that project.
2. The specific issue has Issue Security/Restrictions applied to it that prevent the Watcher from seeing it.
Check the Permissions for the project to see if the Watcher is in a group/role that has access to browse the project.
For the specific issue check if the padlock icon is locked. That would indicate that Issue Security/Restrictions have been applied to the issue. If the padlock icon is not present or is "unlocked" there are no restrictions.
Hi, @Trudy Claspill
Watchers can see the issues in project, but Automation can't add users to a watchers, but I can add users manually and everything is ok
Automation says that when issue is created, and if reporter = user, than add a watcher to this issue
Everyone have the permission to see the project
Users can see only the issue only if they are in watchers, if they are reporter or assignee

Is this for a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project? That information shows at the bottom of the panel on the left when you are viewing the project.
Can you show us the Permissions settings for this project?
How do you limit the visibility of the issues to only the reporter, assignee, and watchers? Are you using the Permissions settings or are you using Issue Security?
Can you paste the text of the message that is shown in the Audit Log?

Sry for not giving all the information straightaway
This is Company Managed project
I can't show you the permissions cause its a bit of confidential information, I can say you that everyone has the permission to browse the project in the permission scheme, and only admins, assignee, reporter has the permissions to see the issue (in Issue Security permissions)
Here's the screenshot log of automation, it says that the user doesn't have permissions to see this issue, this user will not be added in the list for watching
And of course the user doesn't have the permission to see it, I'm adding him to grant this permission, isn't it allogical ?
I can add this user manually in the list of watchers, but automation can't do that having the same permission in the project as me

Can you share the security level configuration you created that allows Watchers to have access to the issue? I don't see a way to add the Watchers field to the security level.
Can you paste as text the messages, rather than a screen image, shown in the rule audit log? I would like to run them through a translator application to see how they translate to English (since I don't speak the language in which they appear).
For this rule, who is specified as the Actor for the rule?
