Hi Sebastian,

There is not a concept of having a shared Context for use with multiple custom fields in Jira. You will need to edit the existing Configuration for the Context for each custom field.

That is unfortunate. Does in that case, it makes more sense to create 5 custom fields and assign them to 5 different issue types?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Are the fields intended to be seen on one or two projects (or a handful) only? Are they only associated with certain Issue types?

Hi  @John Funk thanks for your input.

I am inteding to use a custom field called Instructions, that wil be shown on multilple projects.

I would like that custom field to show a different default value depending on what issue type I am showing it in.

I am adding some instructions and a hyperlink.

Then you should be able to create a different Context for each issue type. Leave the projects as Global.

How do I do that?

When I edit the existing context I see the global context:

But when I add new context I cannot pick that.

It should just default to Global for the new ones. You can scroll all of the way down on the right to see if any projects are selected. You can't have multiple contexts with different projects - all of them have to be global.

Please keep your responses in this thread so that readers can follow the conversation.

You need to remove any project that is already connected to an existing Context before creating others.

Hello,

Unfortunately... it is not possible to do what @Sebastian Somi is trying to do... I ran into the exact same issue.

The easiest solution seems to be to create a dedicated Instructions fields for each issue type.
