Hi, my company is using Jira and has several licenses. One of our supplier/ external IT support is working with Jira as well. In order to facilitate the information flow between that company and mine, they asked us to purchase an additional license through their company so that we can access their Jira account for managing our projects with them better.
Is that true that my company needs an additional licenses through purchased through that supplier to access their Jira even though my company already has several licenses ?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
Sven Kirchhoff
Hello @Sven Kirchhoff
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
There are different types of Jira instance subscriptions:
Free - a maximum of 10 people can be granted access
Paid - the owner of the instance pays to allow a number of users to access their instance
To access any specific Jira instance you must be granted a license for that instance. To access that company's Jira instance, each person needing access to it needs to be granted a user license from that instance. It doesn't matter if you have user licenses on any other instance. Each license is specific to one Jira instance and each Jira instance has its own bill for licensed users.
It is up to that company to decide how they grant licenses to users for their Jira instance, and if they choose to charge external entities to recoup the cost of granting those entities access to their Jira instance.
