Would Atlassian make it easier to pick out the natural workflow steps vs admin overrides?

We have a complicated work flow.  Yes, it probably should be simpler.  But I don't have a dog in that fight.  I go cross eyed looking at the "Admin; XXXX" step vs the natural next step.   Would it be possible for Atlassian make it easier to visually pick out the natural next step?  Maybe put the natural steps at the top.  Or, maybe inverse the colors so the natural steps stand out vs admin overrides.

Hi,

I believe the only way forward is a revamp of the entire workflow. No other configuration exist within the workflow that would make the transitions appear in the way that you've described. It ultimately comes down to the initial configuration of the workflow which requires a change to simplify things. I believe, what you can do here is advocate for a change within your organization by coming up with Pros v Cons about this change.

The other thing you could do here is probably create a browser addon that can help perform the visuals that you've mentioned. However, that might be a lengthy process if you have no coding experience.

Lastly, you can use automation for Jira to pick out the steps needed based on either certain labels or even plain string. If the visuals are becoming unbearable.

Actually automation for Jira is part of the problem.  I just go cross-eyed tying to pick out the actual correct next step when I'm the admin.

I think when automation is involved, it requires less of your interaction. So the idea here is chose a label or set a plain text on a custom field by updating it. Then automation for Jira will automatically set the correct transition for you (given that within your automation rule, this has been well designed). This way, you don't need to click or view the workflow buttons.
