We need to be able to control the value(s) that are displayed for the IssueType field based on the value entered in a custom field. This needs to be controlled prior to the user selecting the Create button (in other words, not fire after the issue is created and simply updating the field). This is due to a bug in JIRA that will not let the workflow for the IssueType get updated if the IssueType field gets updated by script.

Hi John,

This can be achieved by 3rd party addons like Scriptrunner or Power Scripts. You can use their Behaviours or Live Fields (respectively) functionality to set the issue type on the 'Create' screen dynamically based on another field's value.

Behaviours is not available for Cloud.  :-(

Do you think Live Fields might be available for that version?

Can't say for certain about cloud. Check out vendor documentation. And if that doesn't give you a difinitive answert you can always try it for free to find out, just like any other add-on.

No, Power Scripts is not available for Cloud either.  :-(   So, there's a bug in JIRA and we can't get around it with an add-on because none exist for the Cloud version to get around the bug.  grrrrrrr

It's not a bug, Jira is designed to ask the user to select a type.  Not base it on other fields.
